Early in the summer of 2008, Linda, the perennial party planner and hostess,  thought it would be great fun to host a few girl friends from close by in South Fort Myers to enjoy some conversation and a few appetizers– particularly women who really enjoy a good glass of wine.  And so “SOuth FOrt Myers Women’s Wine Nights” was born! The first event was held on June 5, 2008 with 15 women in attendance.  There was plenty of food, lots of friendship, laughter and oh yes –lots of wine! We even have our own wine steward, Chuck, who jokes that he “always wanted the opportunity to pour wine for a house full of women”.

Since that first evening, there have two more events.  we are now up to at least 30 women who really seem to enjoy making new friends and tasting a lot of different wines.  The food is always abundant, there are always many varietals of wine for tasting, and a great evening seems to be enjoyed by everyone.  We have now expanded our ranks from South Fort Myers to a wide geographical area.  We have had friends join us from California, Wyoming and even England!

Some women bring a bottle of wine that they would like to share – either that night or at a future event – while others may bring an appetizer to share, but everyone brings the desire to have an enjoyable evening away from the daily routine.  We judge the success of the evening by the volume of the laughter!

Our goal is to have at least four wine nights each year – March or April, June or July, September and early December.  Linda has planned the next wine night for Monday, December 7, 2009 from 5:30 – 8 PM or whenever everyone decides to go home.  And who knows where we will go from there with other events………….
